Free to Fall
May this seasonal change remind us all that no matter how busy life gets, we are always free to fall into God’s loving embrace. This rest will lead us to a more abundant life.
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” - John 10:10, NRSV-CE
Everyone has a favorite season. For me, it is fall; it is a beautiful time of year. As the hot summer days give way into crisp mornings, I find myself taking a deep breath and relaxing into the changing colors. There is something about the cooler air that refreshes the soul. However, it isn’t this way for everyone. For many, fall signals school starting, the hustle and bustle of activities, and returning to a busy schedule. Days may be filled with school drop offs, after school activities, and weekend gatherings. Summer might have been the relaxing time, and fall is the beginning of another busy season.
No matter where you may find yourself this autumn, remember that you are free to fall into God’s loving embrace. He will be right there to catch you. As the leaves change, it is okay to allow yourself to find rest in God’s arms. Rest is essential. John 10:10, NRSV-CE tells us that Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”. God wants His people to live an abundant life, and part of that life is knowing when to rest.
May this seasonal change remind us all that no matter how busy life gets, we are always free to fall into God’s loving embrace. This rest will lead us to a more abundant life.
In Christ,
