Where Identity Comes From
The opinions of others don't determine your worth. Only one opinion truly matters.
Society today often equates worth with what one can accomplish.
A prestigious job title.
A large savings account.
A luxurious home.
100,000 followers.
A wide social circle.
Status.
Yet, this is not where true worth comes from.
Maybe, these things bring temporary happiness. It’s exciting, after working so hard, to finally be able to buy the house one has been dreaming of. It’s rewarding to receive recognition for all the work done by receiving a promotion.
And, it is holy and good to live out one’s vocation in service to the Lord. Accomplishments are not to be shamed, and that’s not the purpose of this post. Rather, it is a reflection on where true happiness and worth come from.
Worth is not found in the closing of a new property or in a job promotion. It can’t be bought through possessions. It isn’t found in the opinions of others, either. The only opinion that truly matters, is the opinion of the Lord.
Worth, and ultimately identity, come from the Lord exclusively.
And, we each have inherent good in us that is a pure gift from God.
“For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.
His precious child.
His beloved.
Your identity rests in Him.
And, He calls you good.
