New Year, Same God

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

- Revelation 22:13

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” - Hebrews 13:8

January. It’s a new year and new beginning. It’s the time of year where we see everyone’s new years resolutions:

“This year I want to read the entire Bible.”

“I plan to walk 10,000 steps a day.”

“I want to eat healthier.”

“I plan to be more intentional with my spouse and my children.”

While new year’s resolutions are not bad, quite the opposite actually, if this year your resolution looks a little different (or perhaps you don’t have a resolution), rest assured that you are in good company.

If your plan this year is to simply abide with God in a difficult season, that’s okay.

While it’s a new year, God has not changed. We read in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We can count on God to be a steadying presence in our lives. He will always be there for us, if we allow Him to. It’s a new year for us, but nothing surprises God. He knows what is up ahead.

So if the beginning of a new year has overwhelmed you with all that you didn’t do last year, rest in the knowledge that God’s love for you has not changed. He will continue to walk with you in this new year if you allow Him to do so.

This year does not have to be full of big goals and resolutions. Rather, it can simply be a year that we place our trust in God.

In Christ,

Lauren
